JEHANABAD: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said the struggle for special status to Bihar would continue until the Centre concedes the genuine demands of the people who have every right to get an equal opportunity for development. Earlier, he laid the foundation stone of Hulasganj block-cum circle office building complex and inaugurated half-a-dozen projects worth Rs 50 crore.

Addressing a fairly large public meeting at Hulasganj, the CM said despite odds, Bihar is moving ahead on the path of development and people's expectations have also been rising in developing Bihar. As such, the state is in urgent need of special status to catch up with the national average.
The CM said the Bihar model of development has earned accolades at national and international levels. Bihar's agriculture roadmap, rural road connectivity projects, rural poor empowerment programme 'Jeevika' and skill development programme for youths are some of the landmark programmes which are being emulated by other states. "My opponents cannot detract me from realizing my dream of making Bihar a developed state," he said adding, "I am committed to bringing about inclusive development with justice."
The CM said that education, health and power sectors are on the top of his agenda and reports of encouraging results are coming in from these sectors. He said after the unprecedented success of poshak and bicycle schemes aimed at encouraging education among girls, the government is all set to provide scholarships to girls studying between Classes I and X.
